Jack Grealish credits "home truths" meeting with management behind victory at Turf Moor

Jack Grealish says a meeting between Aston Villa players and management was behind their 2-1 victory away to Burnley earlier this afternoon.

The Villa skipper has scored six goals this season, and thinks the meeting was necessary to bolster confidence within the ranks after a series of mixed results for the midlands club.

Grealish spoke with BT Sport after today's game at Turf Moor.

"Truthfully, we had a bit of a long meeting during the week between ourselves and the management staff.

Villa's playmaker thinks "home truths" that were aired out in the meeting spurred on the reason behind their victory over "The Clarets".

"There were a bit of home truths said in there, what needed to be said. Obviously that stays in the dressing room. I think it has shown today; I thought we were brilliant today. Burnley is obviously one of the toughest places to come in the league, and we had a lot of pressure on us today,' added the Villa man.

The win moves "The Villians" out of the relegation zone after goals from Wesley and Grealish saw Dean Smith's side bounce back from their 3-0 St. Stephen's day loss against Watford.

Goalscorer Wesley was stretchered off with 20 minutes remaining after a fair but hard challenge from Ben Mee.

The injury will come as a blow to Dean as the player scored the first and had a hand in the second after slotting a ball to Grealish who blasted home to secure the points for the Birmingham based club.

Chris Wood pulled one back for the home side but it wasn't enough as Villa held on to take all three points.

Aston Villa don't return to Premier League action until January 12. Dean Smith's team have 3rd round FA Cup duty this weekend against Fulham and then a semi-final first-leg League Cup away to Leicester City next Wednesday.
