The 2019 AIG Irish Open Tennis Championship got underway on Monday, and a number of Irish hopefuls are bidding to win silverware.
They will be looking to emulate the performance of Irishman Peter Bothwell who won the Men’s Title last year.
Leading Irish Internationals, Ammar Elamin and Juliana Carton are two youngsters who will be looking to make a name for themselves at the event.
The Open is being sponsored by AIG once again and is also being supported by DunLaoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Cllr Shay Brennan of Dun Laoghaire County Council said: "I am delighted that such a high profile tournament is being again staged in the heart of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown in the Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club."
The event which started on Monday the 29th will run until August 4th. The good news for Irish tennis fans is that admission is free.
This year’s finals will be broadcast live on TG4 from 3.30 p.m. on August 4th.
A top-class field is expected to compete this year with prize money of €35,000 and ranking points at stake during the ITF World Tennis Tour event.
Speaking about this year's Irish Open, CEO of Tennis Ireland, Richard Fahey said: "The generous support received from AIG, DLR CoCo and others enables us to showcase Irish and international tennis talent in a superb location."
