Ireland panel named for Hurling Shinty international against Scotland

Ireland managers Willie Maher and Conor Phelan have announced their panel for this Saturday's Hurling Shinty international against Scotland.

Joe McDonagh Cup winners with Laois Willie Dunphy and Ryan Mullaney are included along with Joey Boyle and Shane McGovern from beaten finalists Westmeath.

Kerry forwards Shane Nolan and Mikey Boyle have been called up with Offaly's All-Ireland long poc champion Cillian Kiely also part of the panel which will be aiming to win a series against the Scots for the first time in five years.

International matches between Hurling and Shinty teams have taken place since 1896 with Scotland being the more victorious team for the majority of the games.

Saturday's match takes place in Abbotstown at 2pm.

Ireland Senior panel: Brian Tracey (Carlow), Mikey Boyle (Kerry), Joey Boyle (Westmeath), Damian Casey (Tyrone), Danny Cullen (Donegal), Mark Delaney (Kildare), Paul Divilly (Kildare), Michael Doyle (Carlow), Willie Dunphy (Laois), Cillian Egan (Roscommon), Alan Grant (Derry), Damien Healy (Meath), Cillian Kiely (Offaly), Shane McGovern (Westmeath), Ryan Mullaney (Laois), Shane Nolan (Kerry), Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch (Sligo), Keith Raymond (Sligo), Caolan Taggart (Down), Seán Whelan (Carlow).

There's also an under-21 match at the same venue at 12pm.
