Ireland fixtures against Azerbaijan and Qatar: Team news, kick-off time

The Republic of Ireland will face Azerbaijan and Qatar during this international break.

Stephen Kenny's side will travel to Azerbaijan to face the only side below them in Group A of their World Cup qualifying campaign. The game kicks off on Saturday, October 9th at 5 pm.

The match will be played in Baku Olympic Stadium which holds 68,700 capacity. The stadium hosted the Europa League final in 2019 between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The game will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports Football and also on RTE 2. Darragh Moloney will be joined by Liam Brady and Richie Sadlier in the studio. Build-up will begin at 4 pm before live commentary from George Hamilton and Stephen Kelly.

The match will also be streamed on the RTE Player.

The Boys in Green go into the game sitting in fourth place in Group A. Kenny's men have picked up just two points from their five games played.

Hopes of qualifying for the World Cup were dashed following the 1-1 draw at home to Azerbaijan in September. Shane Duffy's late header rescued a point for the side on the day. With Kenny's reign in doubt, the Ireland squad will be hoping to grab the victory over the Azeris this time out.

Ireland then host Qatar at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday night in a friendly. The kick-off is at 7.45 pm and will also be available on Sky Sports and RTE 2 from 7 pm.

Captain Seamus Coleman has been ruled out on the action due to a hamstring injury. Dara O'Shea will miss out due to injury, while Wigan Athletic striker Will Keane is expected to make his Ireland debut.

The former Manchester United man declared for Ireland in 2019 having played for England at youth level. The 28-year-old has scored four goals in his last five games for the League One side.

Meanwhile, Derby County midfielder Jason Knight has returned from injury and is likely to feature. All eyes will be on the Boys in Green as Stephen Kenny's future hangs in the balance.
