WATCH: Waterford are back in the All-Ireland Hurling final

Waterford are back in an All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final for the first time since 2017.

In his first year in charge, Liam Cahill has brought the Déise to the decider after they beat Kilkenny 2-27 to 2-23 at Croke Park.

Waterford looked all over the place in the first half with Kilkenny totally dominating the game.

Goals from Martin Keoghan and TJ Reid saw the Cats go into the break seven points up and it looked like this would be a pretty routine night for Brian Cody's side.

Tipperary native Cahill clearly had other ideas and must have given some speech in the dressing room.

A totally different Waterford team emerged.

Two minutes into the second half Stephen Bennett got a goal for Waterford and Kilkenny's lead was then five points.

Waterford then went on a march and 12 points in the first 25 minutes saw them well in contention to progress to the decider.

A fabulous strike from Darragh Lyons in the 58th minute resulted in Waterford's second goal and suddenly it looked like Waterford could beat Kilkenny with them leading by 5 points approaching the hour mark.

Cody's side of course didn't panic and sent three points over to narrow the lead to two points but in a nail-biting finish Waterford held on to beat Kilkenny by four points.

They'll now take on the winner of Galway and Limerick in the All-Ireland final in a fortnight.
