We wanted to know what all the fuss was about" - Ronan Maher on the Sheedy effect

Ronan Maher wasn't part of the panel last time Liam Sheedy led Tipperary to All-Ireland glory.

But the corner-back had wanted to see "what the fuss was about" this year along with the other younger players.

The 23-year-old Thurles Sarsfield club-man sung his Tipp manager's praises after winning the All-Ireland.

And he admitted he was intrigued to see what Sheedy would bring to the table after returning for the first time since his 2010 success as manager.

"The older lads especially because they'd been with him in 2010," he told our own Will O'Callaghan at the team's Crumlin Children's Hospital visit.

"They were mad to have him back. And the younger batch of us, we were delighted to see him coming back as well. Because we wanted to know what the fuss is about. It's obvious enough now when you're in there, it's great to see. We know why they wanted him back so much and we're just really grateful for that."

Freshness

He also discussed the wider benefits of the current management team working with Sheedy.

"They just freshened things up. The previous management team were exceptional as well," he said.

"But the boys are just unbelievable and they bring that freshness. Anything the players ask for, they get. They just have that leadership and they're able to keep on top of all the players.

"Like I said, they're a wonderful management team and we're thankful to have them here in Tipperary."
