"The present administration will pay a big price" | Babs Keating on County v Club debate

Babs Keating says the GAA will pay hefty price for their negligence towards the club scene.

He is especially concerned about the state of the game in his native Tipperary where the club season has been postponed until August.

The former Tipperary coach joined OTB'S Friday Night Racing | Curragh Festival Special.

"I think the present administrators will pay a big price in years to come. They've cancelled all club competitions from now until the end of August - that baffles me,' the passionate Tipperary man told OTB.

Keating says he can't understand why the system that feeds inter-county is being so badly organised. He believes no team in Leinster has the capability to win an All-Ireland this year.

"If you have no clubs you're not going to have inter-county players. If you take Leinster this year; I don't think there's any county in Leinster this year that can win an All-Ireland."

He believes the round-robin is an unfair system to munster inter-county sides, saying they are the some of the best in the country. He believes most Munster sides would dispose of Dublin if the Championship was an open competition.

"I think it's unfair to the five Munster counties. If you go back to Clare, I think they were the unlucky team. They were the best hurling team last year, and should have won the All-Ireland. If you go back, Clare beat Limerick by six points but every game in Munster is an All-Ireland.

"At the end of the day Dublin haven't won an All-Ireland since 38' - and if Dublin were in Munster all the five counties would fancy beating them,' said the Tipp man.

The Ardfinnan man says he is opposed to many of the decisions made by GAA brass over the last number of years.

"There are so many things I am opposed to the present structures, and I don't hide in expressing those views."
