Dublin hurling side Cuala face stiff competition in defence of their AIB Club Hurling Championship from the 2016 winners Na Piarsaigh. The game is set to take place next Saturday the 17th of March in Croke Park.
Speaking ahead of that massive game is Cuala defender Cian O’Callaghan firstly on the horrendous weather that gripped Ireland as of late speaking of the affect Storm Emma had on the Cuala preparations.
“The whole country was hit with it so we were hampered in the same way Na Piarsaigh were.”
“We were still able to train indoors.”
“It’s important to keep ticking over you can’t take a break for a week.”
Ahead of Na Piarsaigh’s semi final win over Slaughtneil saw the return of star forward Shane Dowling from injury. O’Callaghan had his say when asked about the Limerick man.
“No I wouldn’t say I’m worried you have to back yourself.”
“He’s a really good player, one I have a lot of respect for.”
“It should make for an interesting battle.”
The two best club hurling teams in the country will battle it out next Saturday with both sides boasting incredible attacking talent. When asked about his opinion on the possible outcome of the game with both sides strong in the same areas the defender had this to say.
“The only two people who can answer that question are the two managers and we don’t know what either of them is thinking.”
“Tactically we’ll be working on that in the next few days and I’m sure Na Piarsaigh will be as well.”
“The decisions made tactically will probably affect the way the game is played.”
