OTB AM's best of 2019 | Seven unmissable GAA interviews

Before OTB AM gets underway in 2020, we took a look back at the very best GAA interviews on offer throughout the year just gone.

In a year where Dublin secured their fifth All-Ireland win in succession and Tipperary lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup, some stars of the GAA's past and present have joined OTB on our morning show.

Here's some of the very best that was on offer in 2019:

Luke Keaney | "If you're not training the GAA, you're nobody"

One of the year's most captivating interviews, the former Donegal footballer sat down with Ger Gilroy in December to speak about the premature end to his footballing career, GAA burnout and trying to make a difference for aspiring footballers who are being forced to balance an unsustainable number of commitments.

For more on the topic of GAA burnout, you can listen back to Philip Jordan, a three-time All-Ireland with Tyrone, here

Paul Flynn | Obsession, All-Irelands & walking away

Sitting down with Ger, Eoin Sheahan and Kenny Cunningham last May, Paul Flynn, the six-time All-Ireland winning Dublin footballer, reflected on his decision to retire only weeks before Jim Gavin's side commenced an ultimately successful attempt at making history by winning a fifth championship title in succession.

Kevin McManamon | Jim Gavin, claustrophobia & retirement?

From one wildly successful Dubliner to another, Kevin McManamon sat down with Ger and former Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy shortly after history was made against Peter Keane's young team this year.

Casting an eye back over his role with the Dubs, Jim Gavin's management style and how many years he has left in blue, Kevin McManamon dismissed the notion that this squad of serial winners have little to say for themselves.

A few weeks before both he and Jim Gavin ultimately called a halt on their involvement with Dublin, Bernard Brogan spoke to OTB's Joe Molloy here

Tommy Walsh | Top 5 hurling strong men

Among the usual insight Tommy Walsh offered on a weekly basis throughout the hurling championship, something a little bit different that was thrown up in the year just gone came by way of the Kilkenny legend's list of hurling strong men.

Giving it plenty of thought and consideration, you cannot allow this one to pass you by.

Liam Griffin | Wexford are Leinster champions

In a year where Wexford ended a barren period in the Leinster championship, the former All-Ireland winning manager Liam Griffin spoke to Eoin Sheahan and Conor McKeon on OTB AM the morning after Davy Fitzgerald's side defeated Kilkenny in 2019.

Paul Clarke | A life spent in Dublin football

One of those from Dublin's 'Class of '95' who soldiered alongside Jim Gavin then and up to the most recent All-Ireland win, Paul Clarke shared an insight into his life and some difficult years for himself and his family.

Eoin Larkin | "A simple question from Brian Cody changed everything"

One of the year's most memorable GAA interviews on OTB AM, Eoin Larkin, a man who won it at all time and again with Kilkenny, discussed some of the personal difficulties he faced upon the release of his book, Camouflage.

Mayo GAA | Eoin Sheahan's dispatch from Castlebar

Amid all of his stellar work in Japan this year, we had something a little different when OTB AM's Eoin Sheahan went to Castlebar to suss out what's going on with Mayo GAA.
