James Barry highlights the depth of Liam Sheedy's decisive backroom team

Tipperary's James Barry admitted that the incredible work carried out by Liam Sheedy and his backroom team was crucial to Sunday afternoon's All-Ireland final win against Kilkenny.

Making their way up the steps of the Hogan stand in Croke Park, Liam Sheedy was flanked by his carefully assembled trio of Darragh Egan, Tommy Dunne and Eamon O'Shea as they lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup as one.

The three individuals Sheedy first ran toward as the final whistle blew and Tipperary secured a momentous win against Kilkenny, James Barry, winning his second All-Ireland winners medal, has described the monumental impact Sheedy's backroom team have had, and the depth to which its numbers go.

"We have a backroom team of about 20 people," he explained to Off the Ball from the Tipperary hotel on Monday morning.

"[Eamon] O'Shea would call a lot of the shots about what happens on game day, but he generally works with the forwards and tells them to do all the movement.

"The backs generally just have to mark their man.

"Tommy Dunne is probably one of the best coaches in Ireland, so we're extremely lucky to have the guys there.

"Every training is different and interesting, so we're just privileged to be a part of the set-up."

One of Tipperary's goalscorers on a decisive day, Niall O'Meara was similarly impressed with his first encounter of Sheedy and his assembled team.

"Eamon O'Shea fingerprints were all over it," explained O'Meara to Off the Ball.

"We had the work-rate that Liam Sheedy expects you to bring, and I think our whole management team, that performance summed up what they've brought to us this year.

"Eamon is my own club-man in Kilruane and he was working with us last year.

"We got a serious buzz and won our first North final in 20-years, and he brought the same energy here.

"He's just a serious hurling man and has a different way of looking at the game and once you can see it that makes it easy."
