"Liam Sheedy was seething beside me in the RTÉ studio" | Ger Loughnane

Former Clare manager Ger Loughnane has praised Tipperary for their recruitment of returning boss, Liam Sheedy.

Across a Munster championship that has seen Limerick, Cork, Clare and Waterford lose on one or more occasions, Sheedy's Tipperary have been flawless in their opening three games.

Complimenting the senior members of Tipperary's panel for their performances throughout the opening few weeks, Loughnane recalled a memory of Sheedy in an RTÉ studio one year ago when the pair of them were on duty together.

"Liam Sheedy was beside me last year when we were doing Tipperary against Clare," Loughnane recalled on Off the Ball's Hurling Show.

A match Clare won on a scoreline of 1-23 to 1-21, Loughnane explained how "you could see that he was seething at Tipperary's performance.

A panel of players boasting a number of those who'd won an All-Ireland under Sheedy in 2010, Loughnane believes Tipperary made the correct decision in bringing him back into the fold after Michael Ryan's tenure came to a close.

"He has massive belief in those players," Loughnane explained, "in the McGraths, the Mahers, all that core of players he had before.

"I think it was then he decided, in his head, that if we went back [to Tipperary] he could get an awful lot more out of them.

Crediting Tipperary's entire backroom team as being of an "exceptional standard," Loughnane believes they are now primed for another serious charge at the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
