Wexford's Lee Chin talks beating Kilkenny, drifting into the subconscious and life beyond hurling

They'd already beaten Kilkenny in the Allianz League but as a sign of their rapid progress under Davy Fitzgerald, Wexford managed to overcome Brian Cody's men again in Championship when it mattered most.

That pulsating 1-20 to 3-11 win almost two weeks has put Wexford into a Leinster Hurling decider against Galway.

Lee Chin was at the heart of the performance as a driving presence and although his showing was highlighted individually, there's was only one thing on his mind at full time at Wexford Park as he told Off The Ball's Joe Molloy in an in-depth chat.

"It was one of the games that I have played in my time so far that after the final whistle went, all I wanted to do was get to my team-mates and even we spoke afterwards about how surprised we were how quickly we got back into the dressing room together to just be in each other's company," said Chin.

"Usually you'd be outside taking photographs and signing autographs but I don't think with the way the crowd emerged onto the field the other day, there was much room to take photographs or stand back for pictures or anything like that."

Lee Chin after the game

On his own display against Kilkenny, Chin explained how he was able to unlock his potential during the game.

"In the second half, I just got a new lease of life and I just let my instincts take over. I let my mind drift into its subconscious and just played the game without any sort of thought, just let things happen the way it happened," he said, although he added that he had been "disappointed" with his performance when he entered the dressing room at half time.

Chin, who got a taste of professional sports while taking part in The Toughest Trade with NHl side Vancouver Canucks, also discussed life away from hurling and how at the moment, his full focus is on working on his game rather than any other endeavours beyond.

On the prospect of taking up studying some day, he added that, "I wouldn't be happy in that lifestyle of living away from home and forcing myself to get my head into a book when it's not in my personality".
