"Kilbane explaining hurling to Gullit is an incredibly surreal moment"| BBC's Mark Chapman

Joe Molloy is joined on the line by Mark Chapman from the BBC for Tuesday's edition of The Football Show on Off The Ball.

The action on screen is often secondary for Chapman who enjoys the company of his fellow pundits who have played the game at the highest level. "It's often more interesting than the game," says the BBC anchor.

Chapman told a few stories about what goes on behind the scenes in the MOTD studios including a friend of the show telling a dutch legend all about hurling.

Chapman recalls doing MOTD with Kevin Kilbane and Ruud Gullit with the OTB pundit explaining hurling to the Dutch maestro.

"There are other screens going on as well as the games," as Chapman picks up the story.

"Now, often there isn't much going on, there might be a bit of cricket, but you can keep an eye on other things.

"I remember doing one (episode) with Ruud Gullit and Kevin Kilbane. One game was finishing and the hurling was on one of the other Sky Sports screens.

"So Kevin explaining hurling to Ruud Gullit is an incredibly surreal moment for me, as is doing anything with Ruud.

"If you had said to 15-year-old me who watched Euro '88 and thought 'my god this is the best team I have ever seen'. that I would be watching Premier League football with Ruud Gullit and talking about it with him.

"I'd have never believed them. I'll never forget that."

Chapman is aware of the immense privilege he enjoys, the iconic MOTD theme tune does affect the guests.

"The music is an interesting one," says Chapman. "Now you are so used to it, it's fine.

"You go and do one of those FA Cup draws and people hear it, and the buzz that goes around the room when it comes on.

"Or if you get a new pundit, you can see them, if they are nervous. That music starts, it's live and they grip, they grip (the chair)."
