Limerick captain Declan Hannon and manager John Kiely joined OTB AM to discuss their All Ireland win.

Hannon gave a rousing speech after lifting the Liam MacCarthy cup for the second time in three years.

Given the nature of 2020, there were some unexpected benefits to no crowd or hangers-on.

"After 2018, a lot of players were being pulled and dragged from pillar to post and you didn't have a lot of time to meet the people you wanted to meet.

"This time around, we'll be able to meet our families a lot quicker and that is a fantastic thing. I can't wait to meet mum and dad, and my brother.

"I am over the moon - just delighted."

If Hannon and the rest of the players were going until the wee small hours, it's a slightly different experience for manager Kiely.

"I was well tucked up in my bed," Kiely told OTB AM.

"It was lovely this morning to be at home, to wake them and send them off to school. That wouldn't happen normally - we'd be in Dublin and the kids would be at home."

Kiely wasn't all tea and biscuits, by the sound of it...

"Declan will probably tell you that my focus wasn't on the performance on the way home last night - I was more worried about the singalong!

"We had a lovely evening together, the group, which is really important to us. It is something that we really value - our time together.

"We waited so long to have last night, and we've done everything in the best way we possibly could in the last 12-13 months to give ourselves that chance.

"When the chance came, we took it.

"They are an incredible group and I'm very fortunate to be working with them."

Limerick

Hannon let us into the spirit within the playing staff during such an unusual playing calendar.

"We were over the moon when we got the news that the club championship was going ahead and that inter-county would be happening as well.

"A lot of us were saying that we're so happy just to be able to get out to training; to have that outlet when people have been cooped up for the last number of months.

"We're massively fortunate and we wanted to make the most of it - thankfully, it came together yesterday.

"I am just so happy for everyone involved."

"That tactics board is probably going to end up at auction, I'll make a fortune!"
