The GAA world has stopped to pay tribute as the legendary Galway hurler Joe Canning announced his retirement on Wednesday afternoon.
Joe Canning shocked the GAA world this afternoon when he announced his retirement from inter-county hurling.
After a weekend where Galway had been knocked out of the All-Ireland senior hurling championship, the 32-year-old confirmed his decision to media.
It came after Canning's tally of 0-9 against Waterford elevated him beyond Henry Shefflin to become the all-time championship top scorer.
A legend of the game and an All-Ireland winner with Galway in 2017, the GAA world has been paying tribute to Canning.
