GPA members may be faced with the prospect of choosing to play matches behind closed doors if that's the only way a GAA Championship can proceed.
As things stand, there will be no inter-county activity at all until July at the earliest as the nation deals with the coronavirus pandemic.
The GAA will wait for Government advice before resuming activity, but the GPA are understood to have informed their members that there is the possibility of no hurling and football games happening in 2020.
The Irish Examiner report that the GAA is set to ask the Gaelic Players Association if their membership would be comfortable playing without crowds.
Social distancing measures make it highly unlikely that mass gatherings will be permitted before a vaccine is found.
