It was a busy day of GAA around the country as the opening round of the Allianz National Hurling and Football leagues continued.
In Division One of the football Tyrone beat newly-promoted Meath 1-21 to 1-16 at Healy Park.
Darren McCurry scored the goal for Mikey Harte's side.
Galway meanwhile beat Monaghan by a point at Pearse Stadium where the final score was 1-14 to 16 points.
Robert Finnerty scored the goal for the Tribesmen in what was Pádraic Joyce's first competitive game in charge.
That game was part of a double-header in Salthill where the Galway Hurlers also enjoyed a win under new boss Shane O'Neill as they easily saw off Westmeath on a scoreline of 1-24 to 10 points.
Tadhg Haran scored six points from play for the hosts while Joe Canning sent 12 points through the posts, 3 of them from play.
Elsewhere in Division One of the hurling, Waterford survived a Cork comeback to beat the Rebels by a single point at Walsh Park on a scoreline of 1-24 to 3-17.
Clare beat Carlow 1-27 to 14 points at Cusack Park meanwhile and 14 men Kilkenny brushed past Dublin at Nowlan Park where it finished up 3-21 to 18 points.
Richie Leahy was sent off for the Cats in the first half.

Elsewhere today, in Division Two of the football Westmeath beat Clare 2-9 to 1-11, Roscommon and Laois played out a 2-14 apiece draw while Kildare beat Fermanagh 2-12 to 14 points.
In Division Three the Longford footballers beat Louth 16 points to 1-10 and Tipperary and Down played out a 10 points apiece draw in Clonmel.
In Division Four, Antrim easily saw off Wexford 3-10 to 13 points and Sligo enjoyed a big 5-9 to 11 points win over London in Ruislip.
In Division Two of the Hurling Antrim beat Wicklow 20 points to 11 while Offaly beat meath on a scoreline of 26 points to 1-21.
Kildare then beat London 2-26 to 20 points while Derry got the better of their Ulster neighbours Down, 1-19 to 19 points was the final score at Celtc Park.
In Division Three, Tyrone's hurlers beat Louth 1-21 to 1-16 while Armagh beat Donegal 2-17 to 15 points in Letterkenny.
Monaghan's hurlers beat Longford 3-11 to 1-8 at Inniskeen and Fermanagh beat Leitrim by two points at Brewster Park where it finished up 2-12 to 1-13.
