Allianz Hurling League Round-up: Wins for Waterford and Galway

Waterford have picked up their first Nowlan Park win since 2004 as they edged out Kilkenny in their 2017 Allianz Hurling League opener.

A goal from Patrick Curran was the key moment for the Deise as they secured a one point win by 1-15 to 0-17 to join Cork and Tipperary as opening weekend winners.

That leaves the winning trio of counties on two points each in Division 1A.

There was also action in Division 1B where Galway were the star attraction.

The Tribesmen did not disappoint as they put six goals past Offaly at O'Connor Park.

Galway ultimately triumphed 6-23 to 1-12 with the goals coming from Jason Flynn (2), Conor Whelan (2), David Burke and Brian Molloy.

Flynn scored 2-10 of Galway's overall tally.
