Defender Harry Maguire has replaced Ashley Young as Manchester United Captain.
The centre-half joined United during the summer for £80 million and has been an ever-present in the Premier League campaign this term. Harry Maguire replaces Ashley Young who is close to completing his transfer to Inter Milan.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Maguire's leadership qualities.
Solskjaer said: "He's come in and everything about him tells me he's a leader. He's part of a group that we've had that have been leading this young group.
He paid tribute to the departing skipper too "Ashley has been (leading too) of course"
The Norwegian emphasised that several others had been part of the leadership group not just Harry Maguire, lessening the loss of Young. "Marcus (Rashford) is a young lad but also David (De Gea) as well as Harry."
Solskjaer confirmed that Maguire will be "keep on wearing the armband from now on."
Injuries
Harry Maguire's first task as captain will be trying to stop a rampant Liverpool on Sunday. The table-toppers are unbeaten in the Premier League for more than a year, as both World Club Cup and Champion League title holders.
The England centre half will have to galvanise a squad ravaged by injuries with Solskjaer also saying he does not expect Marcus Rashford to be fit in time for Sunday's clash, but he will give Rashford time.
I haven't seen him this morning, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I would probably think that he wouldn't be ready, but let's see. There's still 48 hours, more than that, so let's see.
United will also be without the services of McTominay, Rojo, Pogba, Tuanzebe and Bailly, with Luke Shaw a doubtful participant with a tight hamstring.
