Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington has highlighted the generosity of Team Europe as partnerships were on the latest episode of OTB's Golf Weekly podcast.
Padraig Harrington joined the podcast this week to discuss the upcoming event and specifically focused on the camaraderie within the group.
The three-time major winner discussed the importance of pairing the golfers together and keeping the team in sync during the chat.
"The player has to be comfortable with who they're going out with," Harrington explained. "They might have played with that person before and not had a great vibe.
"We ask every player who they want to play with, and most are pretty generous. They might pick one or two that they really like. There was one or two that felt they wouldn't suit.
"Eleven people wanted to pair with Hovland! You have to look at experience, rookies, and fellow countrymen."
Justin Rose
Harrington explained his decision to leave Justin Rose behind in his Ryder Cup wildcard picks. Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, and Shane Lowry were selected ahead of the English golfer.
"How good do I think my picks are that I have to leave out Justin Rose," he stated. "Clearly, I would love to have Justin Rose in my team, no doubt about it. What he's done in the past has been great.
"The show is just a little late for him. That's it. I have three guys who have played consistently all year. I just stuck with what was consistent and what I could depend on."
