Graham Hunter on a 'fledgling' Barca and Catalan nationalism

As a proud Scotsman, our European football correspondent Graham Hunter has been keeping a close eye on the political events at home and the Barcelona-based football writer also told us about the huge interest Catalans are taking in events in Scotland he discovered while filming a documentary.

"When we vox-popped people, it was remarkable to me how many Catalans would say off camera that they wanted independence and they wanted a referendum, but wouldn't speak about it on camera even for Scottish TV because they feared reaction from their parent company where they had their employment," he explained.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have made it four wins from four this season under Luis Enrique, but Graham described the new setup as "fledgling" with Lionel Messi still the main crux for goals and assists.

"Luis Enrique needs a great deal more from the rest of his team who aren't playing badly but aren't yet in the groove," said Graham, adding that improving the defence has been part of the focus and spoke about his fascination with the goalkeeping situation at Barca and Atletico Madrid.

Graham also chatted about the things that have been driving Pep Gaurdiola mad including Bayern Munich's inefficiency in front goal and the mounting injury list which is affecting his plan.
