Graham Burke's return to Shamrock Rovers is being made permanent.
The striker joined English Championship side Preston from Rovers in the summer of 2018. But after failing to make a breakthrough at Deepdale, he was loaned first to Gillingham then back to Rovers.
Burke signed a one-year loan deal with the Tallaght club in 2020, helping them win the SSE Airtricity Premier Division title in a curtailed season.
His contract at Preston expires on May 31, and Rovers have exercised the option to tether the Republic of Ireland international to a pre-contract agreement.
Burke will stay with Rovers for the next three seasons.
He scored eight goals in 14-games during the 2020 SSE Airtricity Premier Division season, with five of those coming in a remarkable display against Cork City in the second game of the season.
Burke started Friday's President's Cup defeat to Dundalk, and was one of the Rovers cohort to miss a penalty in the shootout.
