Government brings forward increase to permitted attendances at matches

The Government will permit 500 attendees at all sporting events from this weekend, once there is a stadium capacity of 5000 or more.

Minister Jack Chambers confirmed that the date to permit this increase was brought forward by 48 hours from Monday, July 5th to Saturday, July 3rd.

There are GAA senior championship games in all four provinces this weekend.

A number of these are pilot events that the Government will trial from a feasibility perspective.

8000 spectators will be allowed to watch Saturday's Leinster senior hurling semi-final double header at Croke Park involving Dublin and Galway and Kilkenny and Wexford.

The Munster hurling semi-final between Cork and Limerick at Semple Stadium on Saturday evening will cater for 2400 fans, while the Connacht football semi-final between Roscommon and Galway at Doctor Hyde Park on Sunday will have just over one thousand fans in attendance.
