WWE superstar Kane is considering retiring from professional wrestling, to take up a career in politics.
The 49-year-old, whose real name is Glenn Jacobs is contemplating running to become the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee in 2018. He added that he will make his final decision after the US Presidential Elections later this year.
Jacobs revealed to local station WBIR that if he were to run, he would do so as a Republican candidate. The current mayor, Tim Burchett is also a Republican but must step down at the end of his term.
"I love the people", Jacobs revealed, when asked about why he was thinking of running. "I think they have great values and I think they have common sense. And for me, the political philosophy should reflect that – to keep Knox County a great place to live and a great place to raise a family."
Professional wrestlers becoming involved in politics is nothing new in America. Jesse Ventura became Governor of Minnesota at the turn of the century. Linda McMahon, wife of WWE owner Vince has twice ran unsuccessfully to join the US Senate as a representative from Connecticut.
Jacobs has wrestled with the WWE for over 20 years and is a former WWF and World Heavyweight Champion.
