Skier Marcel Hirshcer was lucky to escape serious injury when a drone descended from the sky and crash landed a few inches away from him as he was completing a routine during the alpine skiing world cup.
Hirshcer was rounding a pole in his second run of the event when the piece of video recording equipment, belonging to a member of the TV camera crew, fell. No reports of what caused the drone to fall, have been released to the public.
Speaking after the event, the frightened four-time world champion said:

'This is horrible. This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury.'
Elsewhere, the Federal Aviation Association, has launched a drone registry. If you live in the U.S. and own any kind of drone that weighs more than 0.55 pounds and less than 55 pounds you have until February 19, 2016 to register it before letting the drone take flight.
Considering what has just happened, the registry could become an essential resource.
