WATCH: American sports reporter sacked for using too many Prince song lyrics in a bulletin

Prince's death sent shock waves around the world, and it cost an American sports reporter his job.

According to Awful Announcing, Nashville reporter Dan Phillips was sacked from Fox 17 for using too many references of Prince songs after the singer died. In what has become a tradition in America, many sports reporters try and theme their broadcasts using stories from the day.

Phillips revealed on his Facebook page, the some viewers and station staff found his bulletin as "insensitive" and was sacked as a result. The situation seems very harsh on Phillips, who was with the station since 2005.

You can watch the "offending" report below. The sports anchor did amazingly well to shoehorn so many Prince songs into one report.
