WATCH: Alex Ferguson congratulates Masters winner Danny Willett by telling him he cost him an £8,000 bet

Since retiring from managing Manchester United, Alex Ferguson has had a bit more free time to check out other sporting events outside the world of football.

This past weekend, he was at Augusta National to keep an eye on proceedings in The Masters, and as it turns out, he had placed a rather large wager on Jordan Spieth to retain his green jacket.

While that bet looked safe for much of the weekend, Spieth's capitulation allowed Willett to take the title with a brilliant run of three birdies on the last six holes.

As the celebrations were getting underway, Ferguson told Willett that he had cost him £8,000 given he'd bet on Spieth, but he was happy to throw it away given the Sheffield man was the eventual winner.

He wasn't the only one intent on keeping Willett grounded after the win, however, as his own brother PJ took to Twitter to remind the world that he'd once shared a bath with a Masters winner, amongst other things.
