Thomas Barr has missed out on a place in the final of the 400 metres hurdles despite his best time of the season.
The Waterford hurdler finished fifth in his semi-final heat in Amsterdam, setting a time of 50.09, which was also outside the cut-off time of 49.08.
However, he could not make it into the top four in his heat, with the top two and two best runner's up qualifying for the final.

Speaking after the race, he admitted that "he could have gone quicker today" and added that he "couldn't get into a stride pattern" early on.
Barr will next take part in the 4x400 relay on Saturday
