The latest video in Mayo County Council's 'Mayo Wild' series tracks the training routine of triathlete and former world junior medallist, Con Doherty, as he trains in his native county.
It features 2020 Olympic hopeful swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, cycling on quiet country roads, and running up Croagh Patrick.
The campaign hopes to draw more visitors to the county. 302,000 overseas tourists came to Mayo in 2015 - that was an increase of 16% on 2014.
"The funny thing is that I never really grasped how incredible a place Mayo is before I left home. It wasn’t until I began travelling the world with sport that I realised how unique Mayo is. I’ve been fortunate to have already seen more of the world than most do, but of all the places I’ve been to so far there’s nowhere that makes me feel so alive," Con said, commenting on the project.
This is the third in a run of five videos which focus on the lives of local athletes and their relationships with the county.
The 'Wild Mayo' series is produced by Cut Media for Mayo.ie. Cut Media is a Scottish company which has previously worked with brands like Red Bull, Adidas and Visit Scotland.
