The UFC's featherweight division finally gets clarity

The UFC's Featherweight Title has not been fought for since December 2015, but it looks like a sole champion will be crowned this June.

In an interview with ESPN, ahead of UFC 208, Dana White revealed the the featherweight champion Jose Aldo will fight Max Holloway later this year. Brazilian channel Globo later confirmed the fight will take place in Brazil next June at UFC 212.

The featherweight division has been in a state of flux, since Conor McGregor defeated Jose Aldo almost 15 months ago. The Dubliner never defended his title, with Aldo and Frankie Edgar fighting for an interim title last summer.

After McGregor was stripped of the featherweight title, Aldo was promoted to the title of champion, with Max Holloway defeating Anthony Pettis for the interim belt.

Despite the uncertainty with interim titles, McGregor's knockout of Aldo is the last time the title was fought for.

Even though he is now the lightweight champion, the Dubliner remains a key to the future of the decision, with both Aldo and Holloway stating they want to fight McGregor.
