The Open heads to playoff finale as Irish challengers fade away

The 2015 Open will end with a three-person playoff between Zach Johnson, Marc Leishman and Louis Oosthuizen after the trio finished on 15-under following the final round at St Andrews.

They will now battle over four holes in search of the Claret Jug.

Australian Jason Day and two-time major winner Jordan Spieth both just missed out on a playoff spot by one shot.

But it was a disappointing final round for the two Irish players who were in contention.

Padraig Harrington finished with a double-bogey and a bogey to post a 3-over par 75 that left him on 7-under par.

And it was also nightmare final round for amateur player Paul Dunne, who had shared the lead at the start of the day.

The Greystones man dropped six shots today to slip back to 6-under on the leaderboard and also miss out on the chance to finish as the leading amateur.
