The Final Whistle: Donegal and Tyrone advance in football championship

GAA

Tyrone are through to the All-Ireland football quarter-finals after a comfortable victory over Sligo in Croke Park this afternoon.

Darren McCurry notched 8 points for the Red Hand as they ran out 21 points to 14 winners.

They'll now play Monaghan in the last eight next Saturday.

Donegal also advance after their 10-point win over Galway.

Rory Gallagher’s men were level at the break but proved too strong for the Connacht side and two second half goals were enough to grant them safe passage to the quarter-finals.

They will now go on to face Connacht champions, Mayo.

Meanwhile, the controversial Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Championship play-off at Semple Stadium was won by Dublin as they beat Clare 1-11 to 12 points.

They now have just a day to prepare ahead of Monday's quarter-final against Wexford.

Cork are through to the semi-finals - they beat Tipperary 2-17 to 10 points in the other game in Thurles today.
