Superbowl winner shot dead in road rage incident

In tragic news coming from the US, a former Superbowl winner has been shot dead following a road rage incident last night.

Will Smith, who played on the New Orleans Saints Superbowl winning side in 2009, was shot dead in the city.

Its been reported that Smith was driving with his wife Racquel when their car was rammed from behind by a Hummer before Smith and the other driver got into a confrontation.

The other driver then went back to his car and produced a hand gun before fatally shooting Smith. His wife was shot twice in the leg and is said to be recovering in hospital.

The driver of the Hummer is now in police custody.

The 34-year-old defensive end was drafted by the Saints in 2004 and played nine seasons in New Orleans, making 67.5 career sacks, 13  of which came in their Superbowl winning campaign in 2009, a team high for the season.
