Rory McIlroy's wife Erica Stoll is reportedly pregnant - which may explain why he doesn't intend on playing outside the USA anytime soon.
Stoll, who 31-year-old McIlroy married in 2017, is said to be expecting to give birth in the next few days.
Steve Sands said on the Golf Channel on Saturday evening that Rory and his wife Erica are expecting the couple's first child "any day now" and that Erica is resting at their home as they prepare for the arrival of a baby girl.
McIlroy ruled himself out of the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open last week and said he was unlikely to play outside of America anytime soon.
The rearranged tournament is set to take place just a week after the US Open at Winged Foot in the weekend left vacant by the postponed Ryder Cup.
It's been moved from Mount Juliet to Galgorm Castle in Antrim to stay in the European Tour's 'UK swing'.
When discussing the thought process behind this decision the northern Irish man said;
"I'm planning to stay in the States, I don't see myself travelling internationally for a while,"
"I'm playing four of the next five weeks with that last week being a Major Championship.
"It might be different if there could be fans there and stuff, but it's behind closed doors and it's not an Irish Open like we're used to it being the last few years with obviously big prize funds and everything.
"But not even that, just the fact that I just want to spend time at home and not travel too much in the next few months."
McIloy is currently in action at the BMW Championship and went into the third round with a share of the lead.
