Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy carded a five-under-par 67 in the third round of Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego.
The Holywood man birdied third, sixth, ninth, 12th, 15th, 18th with his sole bogey coming one the forth hole on the Torrey Pines course.
McIlroy missed a number of puts but managed to keep his nerve to put himself just three behind Jon Rahm heading in to tonight's final round.
He is tied 4th with Harry Higgs, Cameron Champ, and Sung Kang.
Spain's Rahm carded a -7 round of 65 to move one shot ahead of American Ryan Palmer who is just one shot behind the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open Champion.
A Rory McIlroy win on Sunday would knock American Brooks Koepka off the top of the World Golf rankings with the four-time major winner leapfrogging the 2019 PGA Championship winner.
The 30-year-old will tee off at 6:25pm Irish local time in the final threesome with Ryan Palmer and Jon Rahm.
Elsewhere, Tiger Woods sits five shots off the lead. Woods carded a -3 third round to sit five shots behind Rahm. The 2019 Masters winner is an eight time winner on the Torrey Pines course.
