Philadelphia 76ers have made history, by becoming the first team to announce a sponsorship deal on their jerseys.
From the 2017-18, NBA teams will be allowed advertise on the front of their uniforms, and the 76ers have jumped to the head of the queue in finalising their deal early. Ticketing company StubHub will have their logo on the team's kits.
In April, the NBA confirmed that sponsors will be allowed from the 2017-18 season in a three-year arrangement. It will be reviewed if sponsors are to continue at the end the 2019-20 season.
NBA teams are allowed to sell advertising space on their shirts to any company they want as long as they do not involve gambling, alcohol and politics. The NBA has also decided that direct competitors of NBA sponsors are not allowed on the jerseys either.
According to ESPN, the 76ers will earn $15 million from the deal over the three year period. The team will be able to keep half of that total, with the other half going into a communal NBA pot. The same arrangement will be in place for all other 29 teams.
