O'Donovan brothers book spot in European Championships final

Ireland's Gary and Paul O'Donovan have booked their place in the A final of the lightweight men's double sculls at the European Championships in Racice.

The Cork siblings came second in their semi-final behind French pair Pierre Houin and Jeremie Azou in Saturday morning's A/B semi-final in a time of 06:38.090.

The top three from both A/B semi-finals progressed to Sunday's final. The O'Donovan brothers will come up against Britain's Peter Chambers and Will Fletcher.

Earlier, Denise Walsh qualified for the final of the single women's sculls at the European Championships.

Walsh earned a second-place finish in the semi-final, coming in just over three seconds behind Patricia Merz of Switzerland, in a time of 07:42.530.
