Mixed-martial arts fighter Jordan Parsons has passed away after an alleged hit-and-run incident in Florida.
The Bellator featherweight (25) had been hospitalised since the accident which occurred on Sunday at an intersection in Delray Beach.
Local law enforcement are in the process of trying to identify a suspect.
Doctors had had to amputate Parson's right leg up to the hip as they worked to save his life.
"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons," said Scott Coker, president of the Bellator promotion.

"Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates."
