Rory McIlroy could not contain his emotion following the finale of his Ryder Cup after he defeated Xander Schauffele on the final day to secure Europe's first point of the singles action.
McIlroy struggled throughout the opening two days of the Ryder Cup but managed to bounce back and get a point on the board for Europe defeating Schauffele 3&2 in his match.
Visibly upset, McIlroy struggled for words telling Sky Sports, "I love being a part of this team, I love my teammates so much and I should've done more for them this week.

"I'm glad I put a point on the board for Europe today but I just can't wait to get another shot at this. It is by far the best experience in golf and I hope little boys and girls watching this aspire to play in this event or the Solheim Cup because there is nothing better than being a part of a team, especially the bond we have in Europe.
"No matter what happens after this I'm proud of every single one of those players, I'm proud of the captain and the vice captain, I wish I could've done more for the team, I'm proud I got a point on the board today but it's been a tough week."

McIlroy's point will likely be too little too late however for Europe, with USA dominant throughout the weekend at Whistling Straights, leading 13-6 after victories from Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler over Shane Lowry and John Rahm 4&2 and 4&3 respectively.
