Irish athlete Mark English has called on the IAAF and the World Anti-Doping Agency to do everything in their power to help clean up the sport.
The European 800 metre bronze medal winner has been responding the the recent allegations of widespread drug-taking, including claims that over 800 athletes had suspicious blood test results which were acted upon by authorities.
IAAF vice-president Seb Coe has described the media reports as "a declaration of war" on the sport.
But English says that the allegations have merely confirmed his own worst fears about the state of athletics.
"It seems to me that these out-of-competition tests and the policing of anti-doping isn't as rigorous in some other countries. That's why I would call on these organisations to try and force at the minute and to just ensure that they're doing everything to try and make sure the biological passport is being policed in the right way," he said.
Meanwhile, former Irish race walker Olive Loughnane told Off The Ball last night that the "most frustrating thing is that the IAAF were potentially turning a blind eye to this".
