Lowry a leading light at Scottish Open

Shane Lowry continued his impressive form at the Scottish Open with a second round 66 to leave him eight under par heading into the weekend.

Lowry was one of five players to set the early clubhouse target in the second round of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open on Friday.

The Offaly man replicated his opening round of 66 to join Justin Rose, Johan Carlsson, Grégory Havret and Daniel Brooks at the summit of the leaderboard.

Continuing on his good from on Thursday, Lowry got off to a quick start with two birdies in his opening five holes.

The good start lent itself to his round, with a further three bridies on the back nine, a solitary bogey on the 15th marring his scorecard.

Justin Rose bogeyed the opening hole but bounced back immediately to birdie the par-five second.

The former US Open champion carded an eight-under par overall on the from nine and is hoping to become the first player to successfully defend their Scottish Open title.
