Lamine Diack has resigned as an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee.
The former IAAF President had been provisionally suspended by the IOC and is under investigation by French police and Interpol. after allegedly receiving money to cover up doping involving Russian athletes.
Diack was the most powerful man in athletics for 16 years before stepping down as IAAF President earlier this year. He was succeeded by former Olympic champion Seb Coe.
A report released by the World Anti Doping Agency earlier this week, revealed that the IAAF had a very relaxed attitude to positive doping tests from Russian athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games.
