Ken Doherty's hopes of reaching the World Championship have ended.
The Dubliner lost his final round qualifier to Ryan Day this evening by 10 frames to 6.
Despite leading 5-4 after yesterday's session in Sheffield, Doherty was unable to carry that form into today's session.
He won just one frame as Day marched into the first round proper for next week's Championship at the Crucible.
The 1997 World Champion last qualified for the tournament in 2014 when he reached the second round.
He was the only Irish player remaining in the final qualifying round.
