Ken Doherty's dream of competing in a 20th World Championship remain on track after a 10-6 win over Andy Hicks in Sheffield.
Doherty needs to win two more qualifying matches to book his place in The Crucible later this month. The 1997 World Champion won four of the last five frames to book his place against Iran's Hossein Vafaei in the next round.

The Dubliner is one of only two Irish player to reach the second round of qualifying so far. David Morris defeated English player Chris Melling 10-5. Brendan O'Donoghue was defeated 10-5 by David Grace.
Leo Fernandez was lost 10-4 to Gary Wilson. Josh Boileau, was defeated 10-2 to two-time finalist Matthew Stevens.
Former semi-finalist Joe Swail lost to Zhang Yong 10-7. Gerard Greene won the last three frames of his match to defeat Jimmy White 10-9.
On Saturday, Fergal O'Brien will face Steve Davis, looking for a place in the second round of qualifying.
