Katie Taylor's Olympic title defence bolstered by two wins in two days

In a repeat of their World Championship semi-final meeting, Katie Taylor nailed an impressive victory over Queen Underwood in Kerry this weekend.

This was Taylor's second consecutive win in two days after outpointing Serbian boxer Jelina Jelic in the Mallow GAA Complex in Cork on Friday, which ultimately extends her fight record to an impressive 163-7.

Further to that, Taylor is yet to be defeated on Irish soil.

Taylor has beaten Underwood four times and earned the win on this occasion via unanimous decision against the former Pan American champion who had previously stated that this would be her last fight in the amateur ranks.

These fights were part of Taylor's Olympic preparations and although her place in Rio is not secure yet, she can book her ticket at a qualifying tournament in Turkey this coming April where the finalists in her 60kg category will qualify for Rio.

And both of these victories will surely strengthen her dreams of defending her Olympic title.
