Jordan Spieth wins at Pebble Beach

Jordan Spieth recorded the ninth PGA Tour win of his career, after winning the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Sunday evening.

The two-time major winner, joins Tiger Woods as the only players to win nine times on the PGA Tour before their 24th birthday. It was Spieth's first win since last May's Dean & DeLuca Invitational in Texas.

Spieth began his final round, six-shots clear of the field, and won by four, after a steady round of 70 that included two birdies and 16 pars. He finished ahead of Kelly Kraft, with US Open champion Dustin Johnson finishing in third.

After the round, the 23-year-old admitted he wanted to play like Tiger Woods would have in a similar situation, when the 14-time major winner was in his prime.

"I remember watching highlights of Tiger trying to hold his bogey-free round when he had such a big lead. That was kind of his goal. That was mine today was, hey, let's try and keep a clean card, let's shoot three-under. That's exactly what we were trying to do. We were trying to stay focused on the number, try to hit as many greens as possible, and really stuck to the game plan and played a lot of boring golf today, which is exactly what was needed."

Pebble Beach is one of the most iconic courses in the world, and Spieth admitted it was an honour to win at the Californian course.

"This is a bucket place list place to win. Here, Augusta National, St. Andrews, I mean there's only a few in the world, it feels really special, it was amazing walking up the 18th green knowing that we were going to win. It's just such a unique position, I tried to soak it in."

It was a good weekend for two Irish golfers in the field. Shane Lowry finished in a tie for 14th, while PGA Tour rookie Seamus Power finished in a tie for 39th.
