Jordan Spieth: Dustin Johnson "is the guy to beat" at Augusta

The first major of the year is a week away and it looks like it could be a two-horse race.

Dustin Johnson, the World number one, has won his last three tournaments, including last week's WGC - World Matchplay. Since winning his opening major last summer at the US Open. Johnson has undoubtedly been the best player in the World.

Jordan Spieth and Augusta National are a match made in heaven. In three years playing in The Masters, the 23-year-old has been the leader/co-leader going into the final round in each tournament. He won the tournament in 2015, and was runner-up on the other two occasions.

Despite Spieth's outstanding record at Augusta, he still feels Johnson is the man to beat. Speaking ahead of the Shell Houston Open, the two-time major winner felt he was not the favourite next week.

"I think Dustin Johnson is the guy to beat in golf no matter where you are. Put him anywhere, I think just about anybody would agree with that. He's the guy to beat."

"If I play my best golf, I believe that I can take down anybody, and you have to believe that. But I think that right now he is the guy that everyone is saying he's playing the best golf in the world right now."

Despite playing in his home state this week, Spieth has yet to win in Houston, despite four previous appearances in the tournament. In 2015, he was part of a three-man playoff that was won by JB Holmes.

Spieth would have no issue losing once more in Houston this week, if it meant he got to put on a second Green Jacket next weekend.
