Ireland have been awarded an individual dressage spot ahead of this year's Olympics in Rio.
The allocation means there will be at least six Irish Equestrian athletes at this summer's Games. The place was confirmed this morning by the international equestrian governing body, the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI).
“Judy is raising the profile of dressage in Ireland and her qualification for Rio is fantastic and should get more young people participating in the sport in Ireland which will pay dividends for the entire sports horse industry” said said Horse Sport Ireland Chairman, Prof. Patrick Wall.
“Today’s news means that Team Ireland Equestrian will have at least 6 athletes competing at the Rio Olympics Games. With the such fantastic talent available to us it should be an event to look forward to."
Ireland was allocated the place as a result of Judy Reynolds' Olympic ranking but it will be up to the Association who to nominate for the spot.
The news comes after Bertram Allen yesterday secured a an individual show jumping spot.
