The award is the second major win for Irish hockey in the past two days and caps off an amazing 2015 for the men's team where Olympic qualification was ensured. Yesterday, Ireland's goalkeeper and captain David Harte was named as the Goalkeeper of the Year.
Former South African international Fulton led the Irish side to the Olympics after a brilliant 2015 which included leading the team to third place at the EuroHocky Championships in London. Fulton himself has competed in the Olympics for South Africa in 1996 and 2004.
Fulton spoke to the Hockey Ireland website about the award. "It’s an honor and a privilege to accept this award from the FIH and from my fellow coaching peers, it is much appreciated. To my family and the brilliant Irish Men’s staff and players, this is our award for an unforgettable 2015".
