Rafa Nadal has strongly denied rumours that he has ever used banned performance-enhancing drugs, describing himself as a "completely clean guy"
The 29-year-old was responding to questions about Maria Sharapova's failed drug test, the 14-time Grand Slam winner insists that he would never do anything to damage the reputation of the sport.
"I have never had the temptation of doing something wrong. I believe in the sport and the values of the sport. It is an example for the kids and if I am doing something that goes against that, I will be lying to myself, not lying to my opponents," he said.
Meanwhile, Sharapova's received some support today.
The Russian's racket manufacturer, Head, says that it is planning to extend their contract with her, despite her admission on Monday that she failed a drugs test at the Australian Open.
In a statement, the company says that it is "proud to stand behind Maria", despite the likes of Nike, Tag Heuer and Porsche all suspending their involvement with the five-time Grand Slam winner.
